“If You are my friend, then everyone’s my friend.” So said Mian Muhammad Bakhsh. What did he mean by that?
Maybe that when you feel close to God, something shifts in how you see others.
You start from a different place. You stop seeing people as separate. You stop measuring them. There’s no need for judgment or pride. Your heart expands. You become less concerned with who’s right, who’s difficult, who belongs.
You’re not trying to be good. It’s not effortful. It just happens.
This doesn’t mean you lose discernment. You still have boundaries. You still say no. But the impulse behind your actions is different.
So check your heart: if you’re growing distant or cold, don’t focus on the person in front of you—it may be that you’ve strayed from your Friend. The disconnection isn’t between you and them. It’s between you and Him.
Come back to Him. And watch how your way of relating changes—with everyone.
